A group of six friends, Damon, Simon, Calvin, Cynthia, Elise, and Azealia were playing video games when an asteroid fell through the roof. It landed on the floor.

Damon, an African American boy walked toward it, ready to touch it.

“What are you doing? You don’t know where that thing came from or what’s in it,” Azalea said to Damon.

Damon felt a need to continue walking toward the asteroid. He poked it and a burst of light emitted from it. Pieces of the asteroid splatter across the room and landed on the friends. A piece burned on different parts of their bodies, a leg, a wrist, a cheek, a hand, a chest, and a back of a neck.

They each felt a surge of power flow through them. Damon felt the most power flow through his body since he touched the asteroid.

Over the next few days, they discovered their new abilities.

Damon was shooting hoops alone when bursts of energy blasted from his hands. His basketball shot into the air. He tried to stop the blasts before they hurt anyone or anything, but it was too late. He blasted his basketball hoop and tried to control his new powers until they stopped.

Simon was folding laundry when his hands started populating water. He thought the clothes he took out of the dryer were still wet, so he put them back in. He waited twenty minutes and again the clothes were wet. Is the dryer broken? Maybe I need to clean out the lint trap? He checked the lint trap, it was empty. He put the clothes back in the dryer and started the cycle again. Once they were done, he took them out and they were soaking wet. He accidentally dropped the clothes on the floor and noticed pools of water filled the palms of his hands.

Calvin was mowing the lawn when the handle of the lawnmower started heating up and then turned black. He didn’t feel the burning sensation until it was too late and the mower burst into flames. He grabbed the hose and turned it on to stop the fire. He thought it was an electrical fire since it was an old machine. The water from the hose turned to steam as he held it. He dropped the hose and realized fire had emitted from his hands.

Cynthia was doing her makeup when she dropped her lipstick. She reached down to pick it up, but it hovered in the air. She put her pointer finger and middle finger on her forehead and lifted the lipstick to the sink.

Elise was playing soccer with her sister and when she kicked the ball into the goal, lightning struck from her foot. This caused the goal to burst into flames. Her little sister, Emma ran inside to tell their mom. But before Emma returned with their mother, Elise had watered down the fire.

Azealia was in class when she got a massive headache. She asked to go to the nurses’ office and they gave her some aspirin. After a few hours, her headache worsened and she started hearing voices. She looked at someone and she could only hear their thoughts. She decided to stick it out through the school day since she didn’t want to miss anything. The next day, she returned to school feeling a lot better, but she could hear people’s thoughts. She felt her headache coming on again, but this time she massaged her forehead with two fingers. It soothed her pain and now she could hone on a certain person’s thoughts. She thought this new power was the result of the asteroid’s explosion.

They all met in the park and showed off their new powers.

“Well, we all have superpowers. I think I should be the leader of this new superteam,” Damon demanded.

“Why should you be the leader?” Azealia asked in confusion.

“Because I touched the asteroid and gave you all superpowers. So, you all should return the favor and make me the leader,” Damon replied.

“There are six of us and we do need a leader. Who votes that Damon should be the leader?” Calvin asked the group.

Everyone but Azealia voted for Damon.

“Okay, that’s five votes for Damon and–”

“Damon can’t vote for himself,” Azealia interjected.

“Then that’s four votes for Damon. Azealia, who do you vote for?”

“Either me or you, Calvin.”

“Sorry, but the votes are in favor of Damon.”

“Yes! Now my first rule as leader of this new superteam is we need hero suits.”

“I can make those. I think I have enough fabric. What do we want for the symbols on the chest?” asked Cynthia

They all thought for a minute until Elise pointed out the burn mark in the shape of a lightning bolt on her hand.

“You have one of those too?” Simon asked.

They all showed off burn marks on different parts of their bodies, each one correlated with their new power. A comet, a teardrop, a fire, squiggly lines, a lightning bolt, and a brain.

They agreed to tell no one about their new powers and to meet back at the park in a week.

They all prepared a superhero name for their next meeting at the park.

“Did you bring the costumes?” Damon asked Cynthia.

“Yes, I tried my best. I did take a sewing class last year and I really should take another. I chose silver suits with an individual emblem on the chest.” Cynthia handed each member their suit.

“What should we call our superteam?” asked Simon.

“How about the Super Six?” Damon suggested.

They put it to a vote and they all agreed to be called the Super Six.

“Now we just need a villain to fight,” Damon said.

A few days later, a meteor fell in the middle of the city and a man in a super-suit popped out as it cracked open.

“Citizens of Earth, I am from the planet Nomad and I heard a small asteroid landed on your planet. I need it back.”

The members of the Super Six heard the news of the fallen meteor and rushed downtown.

In their super-suits, they maneuvered through the crowd until they reached the police tape around the meteor.

“You think this tape can hold me!” the villain shouted. He flew into the air and hovered above the crowd.

The superteam had discovered new enhanced abilities every day.

Azealia sent out a distress signal with her to the people nearby, which made them evacuate the city.

Damon blasted the villain with energy blasts, but he dodged them all.

The villain put his hands and arms in the air and it began to pour. He struck a lightning bolt at Elise, she absorbed it, and sent it back to him. He fell to the ground and got back up. He flew back into the air.

It continued to rain and Simon used the falling rain to his advantage. He turned the raindrops into ice and shot them at the villain.

“So, it’s you six that got the powers of the asteroid. I want them back!”

“You’ll never get them back, villain!” Damon shouted.

Cynthia tried to pull him down with her telekinesis, but he was too high and far away. She telekinetically grabbed a mailbox. She jumped on it and used all of her power to lift it into the air.

The villain created a tornado out of thin air to destroy the city. The wind grew stronger and Cynthia got caught in the twister.

The other members of the Super Six grabbed onto something to stay that was mounted ground.

Damon used his powers to send a blast wave bubble, which gave his friends the ability of flight and strengthened their powers.

“Oh, so you’re the leader,” shouted the villain as the tornado dissipated. He landed on the ground.

Elise almost fell to the ground, but Cynthia caught her in her telekinetic field.

Calvin threw fireballs at the villain, but his overcoat was flame retardant.

“How can we beat this guy?” Calvin asked Damon.

“I don’t know.”

“You’re the leader! Lead us!”

A wave of water was about to tumble through.

Calvin froze the wave.

The villain hero-napped Damon and Cynthia pulled him back.

“You guys are tough, but I’m tougher!” the villain shouted.

Freezing rain began to fall from the sky and coat everything in ice.

Calvin sent out heat bubbles to his friends so they wouldn’t freeze.

“So, you want to play hardball?!” the villain shouted. He stepped back on the ground.

Damon sent out another bast wave and took control of their bodies. It felt wrong but it had to be done. This villain was too powerful. He used Simon to freeze the villain and he used Cynthia to throw him into space. He then used Azealia to send out a signal for the citizens to return to the city. Lastly, he used Calvin to create a heatwave to unfreeze everything.

He gave them back control of their bodies.

“What the hell was that?” Calvin shouted.

“You used us?” Azealia asked.

“I don’t we should be friends anymore,” Elise retorted.

“Yeah, I need a break from this–group,” Cynthia replied.

They all walked back home to never see each other again…?
