Jaymes went to bed early since he had to go to work early, but a loud scream woke him up at around midnight. He looked out his window and witnessed in the alley a man shooting a young woman. Jaymes immediately called the police as the killer ran off and the victim lied there bleeding out. An ambulance drove up in front of his building and police were on foot. They blocked off the crime scene, so no passerbyers would interrupt them. The paramedics brought the young woman into the ambulance and the police assessed the situation.

A few days later, the police knocked on Jaymes’ door.

“Jaymes Pultzer? We know you witnessed that murder, we heard the — ” the officer stopped before Jaymes interrupted him.

“Which murder?” he joked.

“Sir, this is serious. We need every detail of what you witnessed that night,” the other officer said.

“Okay, come in,” Jaymes said with his head down. He led the officers to the kitchen.

They sat down at the kitchen table.

“Well, I was asleep and then I heard a scream from a woman. I looked out the window and saw a man shot a young woman.

“And you didn’t do anything to stop him?” Officer O’Malley asked.

“No, it was late, I didn’t want to wake up anyone up or cause any commotion,” Jaymes replied.

“The gunshot would have woken everyone up,” Officer Justine said.

“Yes, but I didn’t know he had a gun, it all happened so fast,” Jaymes remembered. “Suddenly, the man shot the young woman and he ran off.”

“I still don’t understand why you didn’t do anything sooner,” O’Malley said.

“It happened, O’Malley, now we need to solve this murder,” Justine said, which forced O’Malley to move on.

“Fine, do you have any other information about this murder?” O’Malley asked the witness.

“I did hear a noise at ten that night, it sounded like talking, but I’m three stories up. I couldn’t make out what they were saying, so I fell back asleep,” Jaymes recalled.

“That’s all we need,” Justine said.

“But what if — ” O’Malley got out.

“That’s all we need,” Justine in a more firm tone.

The officer left and Jaymes went back to watching TV.

The police went to the first floor of the building and knocked on the first door they saw, 1C.

“Hi, miss, do you hear anything the night of the murder in the alley?” Officer Justine asked the young woman.

“I did, come in, so we can talk about it,” the young woman, Alyssa said.

“Well, I was watching TV with my boyfriend that night and we heard the gunshot over the TV. My boyfriend, Bryan ran to the window and he said he saw the man ran off. I then heard the woman yell for help. After which, I heard an ambulance coming,” Alyssa recounted.

“Did you know the young woman?” O’Malley asked.

“Yes, I was — -if I tell you will I — ” Alyssa said, unsure of the consequences of telling her actions.

“No,” Officer Justine replied.

“What?” Officer O’Malley asked in confusion.

This case is about the young woman who was murdered, she has immunity,” Officer Justine replied.

“Me and Candy are prostitutes or Candy was and that man was the pimp named Big Daddy. All I know is she went back to college to study cosmetology and he wanted her back since she was the best. When she refused, things got out of hand, and he shot her,” Alyssa explained.

“Okay, what was your relationship with the victim?” Officer Justine asked.

“We were friends, I was trying to help her with college tuition, but now she’s gone,” Alyssa said, a tear ran down her face.

“Thanks, we’ve got all we need,” Officer Justine said.

The officers left.

Alyssa met with Big Daddy the next night.

“Now you’re the best — ” Big Daddy tried to say.

“I thought Candy was the best?” Alyssa AKA Chastity.

“Don’t interrupt me! You’re the best now that Candy is — no longer with us,” Big Daddy said.

“I know you did it,” Chastity admitted.

“You what? I mean, good and it’ll be our little secret. And if you tell the police, your next,” Big Daddy said in a menacing tone.

“I won’t Big Daddy,” she said sweetly.

“Now get back to work,” Big Daddy demanded as he slapped her ass.

Big Daddy had connections with the police and when he finds out Chastity told the police, he called her.

“Hey, Chastity, I know you told the police, but if you do something for me, I’ll let it slide,” Big Daddy said slyly.

“What? I’ll do anything,” Chastity said with sarcasm.

“Hey, don’t get snippy with me, you’re on my list. Now do as I say or you’re next,” Big Daddy said. “At the warehouse near the docks, there’s a shipment coming in tonight and I need you to sign for it.”

“That’s it, what am I signing for?” Chastity asked.

“Never you mind,” Big Daddy said.

“Okay, I’ll do it,” Chastity replied.

Later that night, Chastity walked onto the docks in her most nonchalant outfit, a sweatshirt and sweatpants. She found the warehouse and waited.

The police rushed in and one of them shouted, “Alyssa Michaels!” Put your hands in the air, you’re under arrest for the murder of Candice Micclones or as you know her Candy!”

“It was a setup, I should have known,” she said to herself as she ran away

They chased after her and shot her in the back of the head. She fell forward and bled out.

The police suspected she wasn’t the culprit. Big Daddy was in the shadows or behind the boxes of the warehouse and the police knew it. He ran off, but because he was obese, he couldn't run that fast and the police caught him. They handcuffed him and sent him to jail. They had to kill Alyssa to get to Big Daddy.

Jaymes went on with life and saw the killer was caught on the news. He went on with the trauma and would never forget it.
